Overview

This fifteen-minute special serves as a prologue to the One Piece: Episode of Alabasta film, condensing the Whiskey Peak arc into a tight, self-contained adventure. It offers a quick glimpse into the Grand Line's dangers and the Straw Hat crew's dynamic, making it a curious artifact for fans who want to see how the movie's story was introduced during its original television broadcast.

Because of its short runtime, the special prioritizes brisk pacing and memorable moments over deep exposition. It captures the series' signature mix of action, humor, and pirate camaraderie, though its condensed nature means it assumes some familiarity with the characters and their goals. Viewers looking for a low-commitment taste of early One Piece storytelling may find this approachable, while completionists will appreciate it as a companion piece to the Alabasta saga.

Synopsis

The Straw Hat Pirates put in at a port town whose residents greet arriving pirates with a warmth that seems almost too good to be true. Captain Monkey D. Luffy and his crew, among them the swordsman Roronoa Zoro, the navigator Nami, the sniper Usopp and the cook Sanji, settle in for what looks like an easy stop. Zoro's instincts tell him something is off, and his late-night wandering brings him face to face with the town's real business, turning a quiet shore visit into a brawl.

Caught up in the same trouble are a young woman named Vivi and her strange companion, both of them tangled with a shadowy criminal organization. Vivi has ties to the desert kingdom of Alabasta, and the scheme she has stumbled into reaches far beyond this one harbor town and threatens her homeland directly. The Straw Hats learn enough to understand that a much larger fight is waiting for them.

Rather than sail on, the crew takes on the job of seeing Vivi safely home, setting themselves against the hidden agents of the syndicate that has been working to destabilize Alabasta. This short special distills that opening stretch of the Alabasta story into a compact prologue, introducing the princess, the conspiracy and the crew's decision to intervene before the events of the feature film.

Where This Fits in One Piece

A spoiler-light guide to where this exact work fits within the broader One Piece franchise.

  1. Step 1

Place it after Whiskey Peak and just before the Episode of Alabasta movie to follow the intended setup order for that film.
  4. Step 4
