Production Background

BORUTO: ROAD TO “B” is a one-shot manga released on August 3, 2015. It was created as a two-part promotional one-shot tied to the eleventh Naruto film, Boruto: Naruto the Movie, and it is cataloged as a single chapter. The work is classified as an original manga rather than an adaptation of existing prose or another medium.

The one-shot is a collaboration between two manga creators. Masashi Kishimoto, the author of Naruto, handled one portion, while Kenji Taira, known for Rock Lee's Springtime of Youth Full Power Ninja Chronicles and Sasuke Uchiha's Sharingan Legend, handled the other. In Kishimoto's portion, Mitsuki discusses the heritage of the members of Team Konohamaru. In Taira's portion, Konohamaru gives his team a bell test.

Taira's section was later carried into collected form, appearing as bonus Mini Manga 3 in Volume 2 of Sasuke Uchiha's Sharingan Legend. The one-shot originates from Japan and carries action, adventure, comedy, and fantasy genre classifications alongside ninja, shounen, and superpowers themes.

Franchise Path

  1. Naruto/Boruto franchise side one-shot: read as a promotional companion to Boruto: Naruto the Movie.
  2. It is not a required main-story step; enjoy it alongside the film or as a standalone next-generation Naruto side story.

After You Finish

Continue with

  • This one-shot is complete; the natural next step in the same franchise is Boruto: Naruto the Movie, the film it promoted.
  • For more, continue into the main Boruto storyline; no direct sequel to this one-shot exists.
