Synopsis
Boku no Hero Academia THE MOVIE: You're Next is a prose novelization of the fourth animated film in the My Hero Academia franchise, published in 2024 as a single volume divided into six chapters. The story unfolds in a society where professional heroes and villains wage a constant struggle, and it centers on Izuku Midoriya, a U.A. High School student who strives to become the finest hero he can be. Alongside his classmates in Class 1-A, Izuku finds himself facing a threat that strikes at the very ideals he has long admired.
The central conflict arrives in the form of Dark Might, a villain who imitates All Might and declares himself the new Symbol of Peace. Because All Might is the hero Izuku has looked up to since childhood, this impostor forces him to confront what that symbol truly means. Izuku and the rest of Class 1-A take on the task of stopping Dark Might and protecting the world from the order he intends to impose.
The novel follows Izuku through this encounter while keeping the spotlight on the ensemble around him, including close friends and rivals such as Katsuki Bakugo, Shoto Todoroki, Ochaco Uraraka, and Tenya Iida. Told in prose, the book retells the film's events with attention to the characters' thoughts and their shared resolve as they stand against a foe who wears the face of a legend.

Production Background
This entry covers the light novel release connected to the 2024 My Hero Academia film You're Next, the fourth theatrical work in that franchise. The book is a single volume divided into six chapters, dated August 2, 2024, and it retells the film's original storyline featuring characters created by Kohei Horikoshi. It sits alongside the main manga line as a prose companion piece rather than a separate narrative branch.
The film it adapts was animated at Bones and distributed by Toho. Direction was handled by Tensai Okamura, who took over from Kenji Nagasaki, with Yosuke Kuroda writing the screenplay and much of the earlier crew returning. The project was announced in August 2023. Its ensemble voice cast includes Daiki Yamashita, Nobuhiko Okamoto, Yuki Kaji, Ayane Sakura, and Kaito Ishikawa. The story is positioned after the U.A. Traitor arc and during the seventh season of the television series, with Izuku Midoriya confronting Dark Might, an imitator of All Might.
For readers, the novel presents that theatrical story in prose form under one cover rather than as a multi-part serialization. No official English edition of this volume has been verified in the catalog record.
Franchise Context
This entry is a light novel adaptation of the 2024 anime film My Hero Academia: You're Next, the fourth theatrical installment in the My Hero Academia franchise. While the main series follows Izuku Midoriya's journey through U.A. High School, the films present original side stories that fit within the broader manga continuity. This novelization retells the film's events, in which Deku and Class 1-A confront Dark Might, a villain claiming to be the new Symbol of Peace.
Within the franchise, the film and its novelization are positioned after the U.A. Traitor arc of the manga and during the seventh season of the anime. They are not direct adaptations of existing manga chapters but rather standalone adventures that expand the world. The light novel offers a prose alternative for fans, complementing the film without replacing it. As a spin-off, it requires familiarity with the series but does not advance the main plot.
