Synopsis
My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 2 continues the story of Koichi Haimawari, a young man in a superhuman society who uses his Quirk to help others even though he is not a licensed hero. Alongside street performer Kazuho Haneyama and their allies, he operates in the space between ordinary life and the official hero system, guided by the need to act whenever someone nearby is in danger.
The season raises the stakes as new threats emerge and the vigilantes face their most difficult battles yet. Koichi must weigh his growing sense of responsibility against the risks of working outside the law, while the widening danger tests the group's resolve and the choices they make about how to protect their community.
Set years before the main My Hero Academia story, this season also turns toward an arc centered on Shota Aizawa during his student days. It remains a focused continuation of the Vigilantes anime, following its own cast and conflicts.

Production Background
My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 2 continues the anime adaptation of the Vigilantes manga, a spin-off and prequel written by Hideyuki Furuhashi and illustrated by Betten Court. The source manga launched in Shueisha's Jump Giga in August 2016 before moving to the publisher's online magazine Shonen Jump+ in October of the same year, and its chapters were later collected across 15 tankobon volumes. The story sits several years before the events of Kohei Horikoshi's main My Hero Academia series, following characters who operate outside the licensed hero system.
The anime itself is produced by Bones Film. The first television season aired from April to June 2025, and this second season followed with a 13-episode run broadcast from January 5 to March 30, 2026, as part of the winter 2026 season, with each episode running about 24 minutes. Promotional material for the season included a teaser, a main trailer, and a preview specifically highlighting the Aizawa student arc, pointing to that storyline as a focal point of the new episodes.
For viewers outside Japan, the season is available with an English dub and streams through Crunchyroll, iQ, and YouTube. Its arrival kept the spin-off's animated continuity moving in the same year as the first season's conclusion, expanding the on-screen portion of a manga that had run for years in Shueisha's digital lineup.
Where This Fits in My Hero Academia
A spoiler-light guide to where this exact work fits within the broader My Hero Academia franchise.
-
Step 1
Begin with the core My Hero Academia anime or manga if you want the full franchise context; Vigilantes is a prequel spin-off that sits earlier in the timeline rather than replacing the main story.
-
Step 2
Within the Vigilantes branch, watch My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 1 before this season. Season 2 continues Koichi's story and assumes you know the earlier vigilante cast and setup.
-
Step 3
This season is a direct continuation of the Vigilantes anime, not an alternate retelling or a standalone entry. It remains optional for the central My Hero Academia plot, so viewers can follow the main series without it.
-
Step 4
After finishing this season, continue with the My Hero Academia main story or move to the Vigilantes manga if you want to see what happens beyond the adapted episodes.
Franchise Path
- Begin with My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 1, then watch this season; it directly continues Koichi's vigilante story.
- Optional: add the main My Hero Academia anime or manga for the wider hero-society timeline this prequel sits before.
After You Finish
Continue with
- The Vigilantes anime currently ends here; continue with the Vigilantes manga for Koichi's story beyond the adapted episodes.
- For the wider franchise, continue with the My Hero Academia main anime or manga to follow the central hero-school plot.
