Synopsis

Attack on Titan begins in a walled world where humanity has retreated behind enormous fortifications to escape the Titans, giant humanoid creatures that devour people seemingly without reason. Eren Yeager, his adoptive sister Mikasa Ackerman, and their friend Armin Arlert live within Wall Maria until a catastrophic breach shatters their home and drives them into the military. Eren swears to exterminate every Titan, and the trio joins the Survey Corps, confronting brutal losses, fragile alliances, and terrifying mysteries about the Titans and the walls themselves.

As the story expands, the fight moves beyond simple survival. Political intrigue, hidden histories, and the truth about the world outside the walls transform the conflict into a sweeping struggle over freedom, vengeance, and the cost of war. The franchise broadens through prequels such as Before the Fall and No Regrets, lighter spin-offs like Junior High, side stories, recap films, and multiple anime seasons that adapt the manga to its conclusion. Across these works, the focus remains on Eren and his companions as they face impossible choices, while the series grows from a desperate defense against monsters into a tragic, large-scale portrait of humanity's divisions.
