Super Dragon Ball Heroes is a Japanese original net animation produced as a promotional companion to the card and video game series of the same name. Shueisha's V Jump magazine announced the project in its July 2018 issue, and the first episode received an advance screening on July 1, 2018 at the Super Dragon Ball Heroes Universe Tour 2018 tournament event held at Aeon Lake Town in Saitama Prefecture. Toei Animation handled production without the involvement of Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama.
The anime draws on the game as its source material and adapts the Prison Planet arc from Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Universe Mission. Individual episodes run about ten minutes each, and the work released 56 installments between July 2018 and August 2024, ending as a finished run. Action and adventure define the work's genre framing.
Late in its release history, this production shifted to a promotional CG movie format because its 2D animation staff were required for Dragon Ball Daima. That change marks the closing stretch of the work's run.
