Synopsis

Inuyasha follows Kagome Higurashi, a modern Japanese schoolgirl who falls through a well at her family's shrine and lands in a Sengoku-era Japan filled with demons and magic. There she awakens Inuyasha, a hot-tempered half-demon sealed to a sacred tree. The two are bound by the shattered Shikon Jewel, a powerful artifact whose fragments scatter across the land. To prevent it from falling into the hands of the villain Naraku, they travel together, gathering allies like the monk Miroku, demon slayer Sango, and kitsune Shippo. Their quest blends action, romance, and supernatural folklore as they battle monsters, rivals, and personal curses.

The story grows from a monster-of-the-week hunt into a sweeping conflict over the jewel, Naraku's manipulations, and the heroes' tangled pasts. The manga and original anime tell the complete journey, while The Final Act adapts the ending. Four films send the cast on standalone adventures. Later, Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon follows a new generation, focusing on Towa and Setsuna, daughters of Sesshomaru, and Moroha, daughter of Inuyasha and Kagome, as they confront their heritage and new threats.
