Production Background
BORUTO: ROAD TO “B” is a one-shot manga released on August 3, 2015. It was created as a two-part promotional one-shot tied to the eleventh Naruto film, Boruto: Naruto the Movie, and it is cataloged as a single chapter. The work is classified as an original manga rather than an adaptation of existing prose or another medium.
The one-shot is a collaboration between two manga creators. Masashi Kishimoto, the author of Naruto, handled one portion, while Kenji Taira, known for Rock Lee's Springtime of Youth Full Power Ninja Chronicles and Sasuke Uchiha's Sharingan Legend, handled the other. In Kishimoto's portion, Mitsuki discusses the heritage of the members of Team Konohamaru. In Taira's portion, Konohamaru gives his team a bell test.
Taira's section was later carried into collected form, appearing as bonus Mini Manga 3 in Volume 2 of Sasuke Uchiha's Sharingan Legend. The one-shot originates from Japan and carries action, adventure, comedy, and fantasy genre classifications alongside ninja, shounen, and superpowers themes.
