Synopsis
Season 4 of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime continues the story of Rimuru Tempest, a former human reincarnated in another world as a slime. Now a Demon Lord and the leader of the monster nation Tempest, Rimuru works to strengthen ties between humans and monsters while managing the growing influence of his realm.
The season brings Granville Rozzo and his granddaughter Maribel Rozzo into conflict with Rimuru. Their vision for safeguarding humanity clashes with his approach, as they favor protection through control while he seeks coexistence and mutual benefit. This disagreement drives a political and ideological struggle that tests Tempest's diplomacy and the stability of its alliances.
At the same time, Demon Lord Leon pursues his own plans in El Dorado, and the emergence of a new Hero adds another major factor to the shifting balance of power. As these separate ambitions begin to intersect, Rimuru must navigate rising tensions and uncertain loyalties without losing sight of his goal.

Should You Watch It?
Watch it if you enjoy
- Best for viewers already following Rimuru and Tempest: Season 4 is a direct continuation and assumes familiarity with earlier seasons.
- Appeals to fans of political fantasy, nation-building, diplomacy, and ensemble casts, with humans, monsters, Demon Lords, and a new Hero in play.
- Available via simulcast on Crunchyroll, iQ, YouTube, Bilibili TV, and Netflix, with an English dub alongside Japanese audio.
It may not suit you if
- Not ideal as a starting point: the season continues established storylines and expects knowledge of prior events, alliances, and power shifts.
- May frustrate viewers who prefer self-contained arcs or completed runs; the release is ongoing and part of a planned five-cour production.
- Those uninterested in ideological clashes over coexistence versus control, or in slow-building political maneuvering, may find it less engaging.
This automatic starting point balances the series length, pacing, time commitment, and available Volluble research data. Editors can override it when firsthand knowledge suggests a better entry point.
Why It Connects With Audiences
Why people love it
- Continues the popular premise of a reincarnated slime leading a monster nation while pursuing human-monster coexistence.
- Builds on the light novel source by Fuse and Mitz Vah, with Eight Bit handling the anime production.
- Introduces Granville and Maribel Rozzo as opposing voices, plus Leon's plans and a new Hero, adding fresh pressure to Tempest's diplomacy.
- Mixes action, adventure, comedy, and fantasy with themes like politics, conspiracy, demons, and swordplay.
Common criticisms
- A common hurdle for long-running sequels: newcomers may feel lost without earlier seasons, and the story expects ongoing investment.
- The political and ideological conflict may read as talk-heavy or slow-moving to viewers wanting immediate action.
- Because the season is releasing and planned across five cours, the current 24-episode run may feel incomplete or unresolved.
- Franchise expansion across films, spin-offs, and multiple media can make the mainline season feel like one piece of a larger, still-unfolding project.

Production Background
This season adapts material from the light novel series written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah, and the anime production is handled by the studio Eight Bit. Season 4 continues the television adaptation of that source material rather than adapting an original story, with the record listing the light novel as its source and the format as a TV series.
The season was announced after the final episode of the third season aired, and the same announcement also confirmed a second film for the franchise. The fourth season premiered on April 3, 2026 in the spring season, and the production plan described it as spanning five cours, with the first two cours arriving in 2026 and the remaining three cours still without announced dates. The saved record lists 24 episodes for the current run, each about 24 minutes long, and the release status remains ongoing.
For viewers outside Japan, the season is available through simulcast streaming on Crunchyroll as well as iQ, YouTube, Bilibili TV, and Netflix, and an English dub is offered alongside the original Japanese audio.
Franchise Context
This entry is the fourth television season of the anime adaptation of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, which is based on the light novel series written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah. Produced by Eight Bit, it continues the storyline established in the prior three seasons. It is a direct continuation, not a reboot or alternate version, and it follows the main anime continuity.
Within the larger franchise, which encompasses the original light novels, a main manga adaptation, several spin-off manga, theatrical films, and original animation DVDs, this season represents a mainline installment. It adapts further arcs from the source material. A second film was announced alongside this season, indicating the franchise's ongoing expansion across multiple media. This page focuses solely on Season 4, not the franchise as a whole.
As a sequel to Season 3, it is neither a beginning nor a spin-off. It assumes viewer familiarity with prior events. The season is scheduled for 24 episodes, with a planned premiere in 2026. It stands as a key part of the anime's chronological progression.
