Synopsis
This second batch of the Stone Ocean anime continues the story of Jolyne Cujoh, a young woman serving time at Green Dolphin Street Prison in Florida after being framed for a crime she did not commit. When her father, Jotaro Kujo, comes to her aid, Jolyne awakens her own Stand, Stone Free, a power that lets her unravel her body into string. The episodes follow her efforts to survive a facility where inmates, guards, and visitors alike may be Stand users with deadly abilities.
Jolyne gathers a small circle of allies inside and around the prison, among them Hermes Costello, who is chasing revenge for her sister; Emporio Alnino, a boy who knows the institution's hidden corners; Weather Report, a withdrawn inmate with no memory of his past; and Narciso Anasui, whose feelings for Jolyne complicate the group's plans. Their shared goal is to recover what Jotaro lost and to uncover who is directing the attacks against the Joestar family.
The central conflict turns on the pursuit of a priest named Enrico Pucci, a devoted follower of DIO whose ambitions stretch well beyond the prison walls. As Jolyne and her companions close in, the second part widens the story from a contained struggle behind bars into a larger race against a scheme that endangers the Joestars and the world around them. The battles rely on inventive uses of Stand powers, including abilities tied to memory, gravity, and the manipulation of time.

Should You Watch It?
Watch it if you enjoy
- Best suited to viewers already following JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure or wanting a Stand-driven prison action saga.
- Appeals to fans of Jolyne Cujoh’s perspective, ensemble Stand users, and the mystery around Enrico Pucci’s plans.
- Ideal for those seeking the second half of Stone Ocean’s 26-episode ONA run, with Netflix streaming and an English dub available.
It may not suit you if
- May not suit viewers sensitive to prison violence, gore, revenge, or tragic turns, as these themes are part of the Stone Ocean storyline.
- Newcomers may feel lost because this is Part 2 of Stone Ocean and continues an established Joestar-family conflict.
- Those preferring standalone stories or lighter shounen may find the serialized continuity and tense Stand battles less welcoming.
This automatic starting point balances the series length, pacing, time commitment, and available Volluble research data. Editors can override it when firsthand knowledge suggests a better entry point.
Why It Connects With Audiences
Why people love it

- Stand abilities like Stone Free and the prison ensemble create unusual tactical battles and shifting alliances.
- The story expands the Joestar legacy with Pucci’s pursuit and the mystery of what Jotaro lost.
- David Production’s anime adaptation brings Araki’s manga to life with stylized action and character designs.
Common criticisms
- The ONA’s second batch assumes familiarity with Stone Ocean Part 1 and earlier JoJo lore, which can limit accessibility.
- Some may find the prison setting initially confining, though the synopsis notes the conflict eventually widens beyond its walls.
- The continuing storyline and dense cast can make it hard to track motivations without prior context.
