Synopsis

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders - Battle in Egypt continues the story of Jotaro Kujo and his companions after their long journey brings them to Egypt. Their goal is to find and confront DIO, the vampire whose influence has left Jotaro's mother, Holly, in grave danger. With her life hanging in the balance, the group must press forward through a country filled with enemies.

Jotaro leads the group with his Stand, Star Platinum. He is joined by his grandfather Joseph Joestar, whose experience and own Stand aid the search, and by loyal allies including Noriaki Kakyoin and Jean Pierre Polnareff. Together they navigate unfamiliar territory and rely on their varied abilities to counter the Stand users sent to stop them.

In this stretch of the story, the remaining and most devoted servants of DIO stand between the travelers and Cairo. These adversaries use unusual and dangerous Stand powers, forcing Jotaro and his friends into tense battles where wits and teamwork matter as much as strength. The central conflict is whether the group can survive the final march, reach DIO, and save Holly before it is too late.

Should You Watch It?

Watch it if you enjoy

  • Watch if you have followed the first half of Stardust Crusaders and want the Egypt arc's final march toward DIO.
  • Watch if you enjoy varied Stand battles where unusual powers, wits, and teamwork decide the outcome.
  • Watch if you want a direct anime adaptation of Part 3's later manga chapters within the Joestar saga.

It may not suit you if

  • May not suit newcomers: this is the second half of Stardust Crusaders and assumes prior Phantom Blood, Battle Tendency, and 2014 episodes.
  • May not suit viewers who prefer a standalone story, since its stakes and cast continue directly from earlier installments.
  • May not suit those uneasy with intense combat, peril, and franchise-typical stylized violence or gore.

Why It Connects With Audiences

Why people love it

  • Its appeal rests in the long-awaited Egypt confrontation, pitting Jotaro's group against DIO's most devoted Stand users.
  • The ensemble built around Jotaro, Joseph, Kakyoin, and Polnareff gives battles a cooperative and character-driven edge.
  • David Production's adaptation brings Araki's manga action to TV with a focused 24-episode conclusion to Stardust Crusaders.

Common criticisms

  • Some may find the enemy-of-the-week Stand structure repetitive across a full 24-episode block.
  • As a mid-franchise continuation, it can feel less satisfying without the setup and journey of the preceding Stardust Crusaders half.
  • Its large cast and established rivalries may leave new viewers catching up rather than discovering the story from the start.

Franchise Context

This entry is a continuation within the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure franchise, serving as the second half of the Stardust Crusaders anime. It adapts the Egypt arc of Hirohiko Araki's manga, the third part of the larger saga. It follows the earlier Stardust Crusaders broadcast and concludes that part's storyline before the franchise moves on to Diamond is Unbreakable. It is not the franchise's beginning, nor is it a spin-off or an alternate version.

Within the David Production television adaptation, this installment sits after the first season, which covered Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency, and after the initial Stardust Crusaders episodes. It remains a direct adaptation of the manga source rather than an original story. Its 24 episodes form a distinct broadcast unit, but they are inseparable from the preceding Stardust Crusaders episodes and the larger Joestar family chronicle.

For franchise context, the entry fits into a sequence of generational arcs, each following different Joestar protagonists. It continues the story of Jotaro Kujo and his companions, yet this page treats the release as one individual installment. It is neither a reboot nor a standalone side story. Viewers should approach it as the latter half of the Stardust Crusaders anime, and as the culmination of that part's journey within the broader franchise.

Where This Fits in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure

A spoiler-light guide to where this exact work fits within the broader JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure franchise.

  1. Step 1
If you are new to JoJo, start with the 2012 anime covering Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency, then watch the first half of Stardust Crusaders from 2014.
  2. Step 2
This work, Battle in Egypt, is the second half of Stardust Crusaders, so it comes directly after that first half and is not an optional side story or alternate version.
  3. Step 3
After finishing Battle in Egypt, continue with Diamond is Unbreakable, the next anime season, to follow the Joestar family story forward.
  4. Step 4
If you already know the earlier parts, Battle in Egypt is still required viewing for the full Stardust Crusaders arc before moving on.

Franchise Path

  1. Franchise path: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure 1st Season (Phantom Blood, Battle Tendency) -> 2nd Season Stardust Crusaders first half -> this Battle in Egypt second half.
  2. After this, the same franchise continues with Diamond is Unbreakable, then Golden Wind, then later JoJo seasons such as Stone Ocean.

After You Finish

Continue with

  • Continue with JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable, the next anime season in the same franchise, to follow the Joestar family story forward.
