Synopsis
In a near-future Japan, the Sibyl System continuously scans citizens' minds and assigns a “Psycho-Pass” crime coefficient, measuring the likelihood they will commit a crime. Society treats this numerical judgment as objective truth, but it can condemn people before they act. Akane Tsunemori joins the Public Safety Bureau as a rookie Inspector, overseeing Enforcers—latent criminals used as detectives. Together they pursue cases that expose the fragile line between justice and authoritarian control, while confronting brilliant criminals who challenge the system from within.
The story follows Akane’s growth from idealistic recruit to a seasoned investigator, and later shifts to new inspectors and Enforcers as the franchise expands. Sequels, films, and spin-offs widen the scope beyond Tokyo, exploring foreign governments, underground syndicates, and the Sibyl System’s secret origins. Across television seasons, movies, manga, and novels, Psycho-Pass remains a tense sci-fi crime saga about free will, surveillance, and the cost of a society that believes it can measure human worth.
