Overview
Girls und Panzer das Finale - Part 4 is a compact anime movie built around the unusual appeal of tank battles as a school sport. Its 54-minute runtime keeps the experience focused, while the action balances battlefield positioning, team coordination, and the personalities of a large female ensemble. The result is less about military realism than the excitement of watching capable rivals turn terrain, timing, and individual strengths into competitive strategy. A snowy setting adds a distinct visual character to the clashes, giving this installment a wintry, high-pressure atmosphere.
What makes Part 4 matter within its own sequence is the way it gives multiple teams room to carry the tension. The film moves attention beyond a single central perspective, allowing contrasting approaches to leadership and combat to shape the momentum. That combination makes it a natural fit for viewers who enjoy sports anime, tournament drama, tactical action, or ensemble casts with strong team identities. Its school setting and generally accessible competition framework may also appeal to audiences who do not usually seek out military-themed anime. As the fourth part of a continuing film series, however, it is best approached after the earlier installments, since its impact depends on established teams, rivalries, and character relationships. For returning viewers, it offers another polished burst of strategic spectacle rather than a broad introduction to the wider franchise.
Synopsis
With Oarai Girls' Academy's Anko Team suffering an early defeat, the school’s remaining tank crews face a difficult continuation of the Winter Continuous Track Cup. Miho Nishizumi supports the team as vice-commander while Momo Kawashima carries the pressure of leading Oarai toward its objective. Their next challenge is Continuation Academy, a determined opponent whose battlefield choices force Oarai to rely on coordination, adaptability, and the distinct strengths of its individual crews. The snow-covered setting adds another obstacle, making each maneuver and tactical decision especially important.
The film also follows a separate clash between two highly capable commanders. Erika Itsumi of Kuromorimine has developed an unconventional tank strategy and must put it to the test against Darjeeling of St. Gloriana. Their encounter offers a more contained contrast to Oarai’s team struggle, pairing Erika’s distinctive approach with Darjeeling’s calm, clever command style. Across both battles, the students must balance personal responsibility with the demands of team-based tank combat, as every school seeks an opening that can shift the contest in its favor. Girls und Panzer das Finale - Part 4 presents these parallel matches as tense sports competition, emphasizing tactical ingenuity, ensemble teamwork, and the resolve of its primarily teenage crews without disclosing the results of either confrontation.

Should You Watch It?
Watch it if you enjoy
- Watch if you enjoy tactical sports drama built around positioning, timing, and team coordination.
- Best approached after the 2012 series, 2015 film, and das Finale Parts 1–3, since this 54-minute movie directly continues their story.
It may not suit you if
- May not suit if you want a self-contained film, as Part 4 is one chapter in a continuing six-part storyline.
- Its military imagery is framed as school sports rather than realistic warfare, which may disappoint viewers seeking serious military drama.
The primary starting work is a movie, so the full film is the natural Volluble Test Drive. This gives you the complete story instead of applying an episodic trial to a feature-length work.

Production Background
Girls und Panzer das Finale – Part 4 is an original Japanese animated movie, rather than an adaptation of a manga or novel. It forms one installment of the six-part Girls und Panzer das Finale film project, which continues the story of the 2012 television anime and the 2015 animated movie Girls und Panzer der Film. For this production, Actas served as the animation studio and Showgate as distributor. Tsutomu Mizushima directed the project, with Reiko Yoshida credited for the script, while the film series retained an ensemble cast drawn from earlier installments.
Part 4 was released as a single 54-minute movie on October 6, 2023, and is recorded as finished. Its story continues the Winter Continuous Track Cup, with Ōarai Girls' Academy facing Continuity Academy while a separate match brings Kuromorimine into conflict with St. Gloriana. The official project site presents Part 4 as a distinct chapter alongside the other Finale entries, including the first, second, third, and planned fifth parts. This release structure makes Part 4 a theatrical-length segment within a continuing film series rather than a standalone remake or a new television season.
Franchise Context
Girls und Panzer das Finale - Part 4 is the fourth installment in Girls und Panzer das Finale, a six-part anime film series. It is a continuation of the franchise rather than a remake, alternate version, or stand-alone film. The project follows the original 2012 Girls und Panzer television anime and the 2015 film Girls und Panzer der Film, extending the same setting and ensemble into a later feature-film storyline.
As a 54-minute movie released in 2023, Part 4 occupies a later position within the Finale sequence and is designed to be viewed alongside the other numbered parts. The entry is an original anime production, not an adaptation of manga or novel source material. Its returning school teams, military-themed sports setting, and established cast connections place it firmly within the main Girls und Panzer continuity, while its individual film format distinguishes it from the original television series and earlier feature.
