Overview
Pokémon: Black & White marks a fresh anime journey through the Unova region, pairing Ash and Pikachu with new companions Iris and Cilan. Its appeal lies in the sense of a new beginning: unfamiliar Pokémon, changing travel dynamics, and a bright adventure format that keeps each stop approachable.
Across 84 episodes, the series balances battles and exploration with comedy, friendship, and plenty of creature-focused charm. Its episodic structure makes it easy to sample, while younger viewers, newcomers, and anyone seeking a light fantasy adventure may find it especially welcoming. An English dub is available.
Synopsis

Production Background
Pokémon: Black & White is a television anime based on the Pokémon video game source material. Its setting and premise draw from Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version, the fifth-generation role-playing games developed by Game Freak and published by The Pokémon Company and Nintendo for the Nintendo DS.
The series premiered in Japan on September 23, 2010, and concluded on June 14, 2012, with 84 episodes running approximately 24 minutes each. The production introduces the Unova region as Ash Ketchum’s new setting, alongside the new traveling companions Iris and Cilan and the rival trainer Trip.
Franchise Context
Pokémon: Black & White is a continuation of the main Pokémon television anime, following the Advanced Generation and Diamond & Pearl installments. It begins a new regional chapter rather than remaking an earlier series or functioning as a spin-off. The setting shifts to Unova, a region introduced through the fifth-generation Pokémon video games, while Ash Ketchum and Pikachu remain the central returning characters.
This entry also refreshes the traveling ensemble for its Unova journey. Iris and Cilan join Ash, alongside the new rival Trip and Professor Juniper, giving the series a distinct cast and regional identity within the larger anime line. It is a completed 84-episode TV series that aired from 2010 to 2012, not a film or manga adaptation presented as a separate format. Its source is the Pokémon video game series, but the anime develops its own episodic television continuation around the games' setting and characters.
