Sailor Moon is a multimedia franchise represented in Volluble by 20 connected works across 5 media categories. This hub organizes the franchise by release chronology and gives newcomers a clear starting point.
Synopsis
Sailor Moon centers on Usagi Tsukino, an ordinary schoolgirl who discovers she is the reincarnated guardian Sailor Moon. With a talking cat Luna, she gathers fellow Sailor Guardians—Ami, Rei, Makoto, Minako—to protect Earth from dark forces seeking the Silver Crystal and the Moon Kingdom's lost legacy. The early story balances school life, friendship, romance, and battles against villains like the Dark Kingdom, while later arcs expand the team and escalate threats.
The franchise began as Naoko Takeuchi's manga and grew through the 1990s anime, films, and specials. A prequel, Codename: Sailor V, follows Minako Aino before she joins the group. In the 2010s, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal retold the manga more closely, continuing through Eternal and Cosmos films. Across versions, the series follows the Guardians' growth, sacrifices, and bonds as they face cosmic enemies and protect the world. It remains a defining magical-girl saga, mixing action, fantasy, romance, and friendship.
